A close look at a high-profile battle
“Depp V Heard” is an intimate reflection on the implications of this closely watched trial, including the decision to publicly broadcast it. The latter two episodes are expected to provide a critical analysis of the impact that digital media had on the case’s proceedings and the public response to the final verdict.
The series was initially aired by Channel 4 in May, over three days from May 21st to May 23rd, with each episode spanning 47 minutes. The reception to this profound series was mixed. While The Guardian felt it depicted a “profoundly depressing” spectacle, The Telegraph praised the show for successfully showcasing the social media frenzy surrounding the case.

The creative force driving this new documentary series is Emma Cooper, the director, and executive producer. The Empress Films Banner, Cooper’s brainchild, oversaw the project’s execution. She is known for other noteworthy Netflix Originals, such as “The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes,” “The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann,” and “Bikram: Yogi, Guru, Predator.”
Emma Cooper is also lined up as an executive producer for another intriguing Netflix Original, a documentary delving into the life and untimely demise of beloved U.K. television presenter Jill Dando.
